On May 22 and 23, 2025, the very first Digital Law Days (JDN) were held at the Maison de l'Entreprise, in the Plateau district of Abidjan. This flagship initiative of the Ministry of Digital Transition and Digitalization (MTND) of Côte d'Ivoire was actively supported by VITIB (Village of Information Technology and Biotechnology) as a sponsor and strategic player in the digital transformation of Côte d'Ivoire.

Under the theme "Law and digital for all: building a trustworthy digital environment," this first edition brought together legal professionals, digital experts, academics, and institutional and private stakeholders to discuss the crucial issues related to the legal regulation of digital technology in a context of rapid and profound technological growth.

Highlights

For the latter, trust is the key that will allow the full potential of digital technology to be deployed, thus making digital law an essential lever for an inclusive economic development that respects fundamental rights.

This first edition of the Digital Law Days was a major moment of reflection and exchange, marking a decisive step in building a legal framework adapted to the challenges of digital technology in Côte d'Ivoire.

As a company for the promotion and operation of the Grand-Bassam Technology Free Zone, VITIB highlighted its expertise in promoting a legal framework favorable to digital innovation, elegantly materialized by the projection of its institutional video, which speaks volumes about its commitment to its digital ecosystem, facilitating the establishment of technology companies and supporting the creation of qualified jobs within its 624-hectare park.

To top it off, this platform was an opportunity for the Director General of the MTND, Mr. Olivier AVOA, to officially announce the upcoming establishment, on its site in Grand-Bassam, of the "City of Innovation and Culture," a strategic project initiated under the impulse of His Excellency the President of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire.

This ambitious initiative is part of a vision of harmonious development, integrating both technological progress and the valorization of Ivorian cultural heritage.

It aims to create an ecosystem of talents, businesses, and research centers, serving the digital economy, creative industries, and African youth.

The City of Innovation and Culture will offer an integrated urban framework, including modern infrastructure, spaces for learning, creation, exhibition, and experimentation at the heart of the Grand-Bassam Technology Free Zone to allow youth to give free rein to their creativity. It symbolizes a new era for Côte d'Ivoire, that of African techno-cultural leadership, combining know-how, innovation, and digital sovereignty.
